S0378. Unlike my rush to get to Nantes, I had plenty of time to get to Bern. A leisurely, scenic drive across France lay ahead this morning. The sun was now up, as Ludwig and I spent a good two hours talking and laughing and shaking our heads at our mutual changes of fortune. He was reluctant at first to show me his MAN. I guess he was embarrassed at something so old and battered. But when I told him I wanted to hear it rumble, he grinned jumped in and started up the big MAN diesel. All was good
