DIAMOND IN THE SKY
Like a diamond in the sky,
It glowed in a setting of pink mist,
Above a fluorescent purple haze,
And beckoned him to come near.

Yet he knew this he could not do,
For to another he must be true,
To falter would give the devil his due,
He would perish, for all he knew.

Alas, in his younger day,
The attraction he could not stay,
And oft visited there to play,
There frivolously wasting all-the-day.

Unlike the moth drawn into the flame,
From its clutches he always came,
Though never ever quite the same,
His boasts of conquest, quite lame.

Now when evening draws nigh,
The beckoning vision he will resist,
Yes, for now and all his days,
To honor that which he holds dear.
