Mental Wings

I sit by the window,
At work, doing my chores,
Stay I must and cannot go,
Yet so bound my mind soars.

On wings of inventive fantasy,
It has no need of doors,
And can go from here to ecstasy,
Or other realms it explores.

Over mental stream and field,
Like an eagle in the sky,
Searching to find prey revealed,
With intense envisioned eye.

Through a misty mental haze,
A timid creative thought does bolt,
But doesn't escape the eagle's gaze,
Who dives with precision in a single volt.

And like a frightened, scurrying hare,
Is struck with steely talons keen,
Its heart and soul laid bare,
So that know I what it does mean.
